What Surface Finishes Can Be Applied to Perfume Bottles?

Most custom perfume bottles are finished with one or more of five mainstream techniques: screen printing, hot stamping (foil), frosting / acid etching, electroplating / metallic coating, and UV or spray coating. The right finish depends on your brand look, budget, and how the bottle will be filled and handled.

Five Common Finishes at a Glance

Screen Printing

Flat-color logo or text baked onto glass. Cost-effective for runs of 1,000+ and highly durable in daily use.

Hot Stamping

Metallic foil (gold/silver) pressed onto the surface for a premium, reflective mark. Best for luxury lines.

Frosting

Acid-etched matte surface that softens light and hides fingerprints. Pairs well with colored glass.

Electroplating

A thin metal layer gives a mirror or tinted metallic shell. Mostly for caps and collars, not the liquid chamber.

UV / Spray Coating

Transparent or tinted lacquer for color, gloss, or soft-touch feel, plus extra scratch resistance.

How to Choose

Pick screen printing for clear branding at scale, hot stamping for a luxury highlight, and frosting or UV coating when the glass itself should carry the look. Combine a coated body with an electroplated cap for a high-end two-tone effect. Always confirm compatibility with your fragrance formula and filling line before mass production.
